I couldn't wait to finish L.S. Hilton's first installment of her trilogy, but sadly, it was for all the wrong reasons.

In "Maestra", we meet Judith, an assistant at a London art house, who, like many others living in a major city, is struggling to make ends meet, but Judith is coveting secrets. What starts off as a woman trying to succeed in her career and filling the emptiness in her life, we are suddenly thrust into a dark and seemingly unrealistic, fugitive race across Europe. While L.S. Hilton's descriptions of Judith's destinations, from London to the French Riviera and then Italy, are exquisite, it did not make up for the almost inexplicable change in the character we met in London. Even for a sexy psychological thriller, and a femme fatale sociopath character, the lack of character development was shocking and the novel fell flat.

While certainly an easy read, L.S. Hilton's "Maestra" failed to connect with me.

I recommend skipping this lackluster trilogy.
