We all have specific authors we can depends on - the ones we turn to time and time again because we know what to expect from them and who rarely, if ever, let us down. Sophie Kinsella has been one of my go-to authors for years now when I need a fun, lighthearted, and/or funny read. Kinsella'sWedding Night has been sitting on the "to read" stack for ages; I knew that I was saving it for when I would need it most. During this time of isolation, unease, and uncertainty, we all may be looking for a little distraction and comfort - I turned to Kinsella.

In Wedding Night we follow Lottie from a failed almost-engagement to reconnecting with an ex-boyfriend to a sudden and unexpected marriage with a Greek Island honeymoon. Meanwhile, Lottie's sister believes she's making a horrific mistake and will take equally drastic measures to stop her.

This simple story is told at a whirlwind pace, alternating between the two sisters' perspectives. What Kinsella does best is touch upon real human struggles - family dynamics, heartbreak, career cross-roads, etc - but balances it with over-the-top awkward encounters and witty one-liners.
