For every woman who believes that they need to be able to do it all and make it look easy; for every person who opens their eyes in the morning and feels the scarcity of not enough sleep, not enough time to tackle it all, and the overwhelming feeling of it not being enough, Lisa Genova's novel "Left Neglected" will resonate and give you comfort in knowing that you're not alone.

Sarah Nickerson, the vice president of human resources at a large consulting firm and mother of three small children, is juggling a highly demanding career in Boston and a family in the suburbs with conflicting schedules filled with daycare, school, soccer, etc. Within the first 40 pages, Sarah's struggle to find the balance in work and family had me riveted but utterly exhausted, and her life echoes so much of our world today; that our idea of a work-life balance is actually just a facade. But Sarah pushes through and believes that she can do it all. That is until one seemingly ordinary morning changes everything for Sarah, and she is forced to see the world differently; she is no longer the woman who can do it all because she has no awareness of the left side.

Lisa Genova takes us through Sarah's struggle to understand what it means to live with Left Neglect, how to adapt to a new reality, and how to let go of who we used to be to embrace who we can become.

"Left Neglected" is a call to slowdown and a call to trust; trust yourself, trust your loved ones, and trust that the universe will lead you where you need to go. Sometimes the universe intervenes in our lives in big, dramatic ways. But sometimes, it simply puts a book in your hand that reminds you to be thankful and reflect on the important things in your life.
